Nanoarray Diagnostic Biochips offer a fast, convenient and accurate method for detecting specific chemical or biological entities, particularly related to infectious or toxic molecules such as protein markers. In the pharmaceutical industry applications include drug discovery, DNA analysis and protein diagnostics.
The arrays are fabricated via chemical immobilisation of a specific library of chemical compounds in the form of diagnostic nanobeads onto microstructured pillars. Due to this unique method of manufacture, a high signal:noise ratio is attainable, with no requirement for sample preparation and high sample throughput, resulting in a low cost diagnostic system. The lead application for this technology is bovine mastitis diagnosis in dairy herds. The ability to identify specific bacteria by the use of the chemical ligands will enable the appropriate antibiotic treatment to be administered at an earlier stage of the disease.
Quintain NS has recently entered into a commercial agreement with BioConsult Pty Ltd, for the strategic development of the NanoArray Biochip technology for bovine mastitis diagnosis. For more information, click here.
